Over 145,000 nurses work in Ontario providing high-quality care to Ontarians across all health system sectors.
Of the $52.5 Million that Ontario is investing to recruit, retain and support more Health Care Workers, $26 million will support nurses.
Support for nurses will include:
$18 million for Ontario’s Nursing Graduate Guarantee program, which provides full-time salary and benefits for over 600 nurses with a focus on recruiting in areas of need such as long-term care homes and acute care settings; and
Up to $8 million to add over 800 nurses to the health system in areas of need across the province.
We Need Newcomer Nurses!
A recent graduate of the 9-day Job Search Workshop for newcomers had been working in Canada as a PSW while studying for her nursing certification.
She completed nursing school in the Philippines before coming to Canada. During the Job Search Workshop she learnt that she had successfully passed her exams and soon afterward was awarded with a position as an RN at Toronto Western Hospital.
During COVID there is a demand for experienced nurses. Newcomers, let us help connect you to a career in Canada!
The Durham Health Department hires nurses regularly.
