Recently, Amazon opened a new Delivery Station in Whitby bringing hundreds of jobs to the Durham Region. They also recently announced the opening of a Fulfillment Centre in Ajax in 2021 which will employ more than 1,000 people.
In addition to the 354,000 sq foot Amazon facility in Whitby, a 129 acre site in Ajax will house four buildings – the largest will be one million square feet.
Ajax Mayor Shaun Collier stated that being a host to Amazon will “mean so much to the community, keeping employment strong not just in Ajax, but across the Region.” Collier added.
With 1,000 employees, Amazon will become one of the largest employers in Ajax.
The Ajax facility will be used to ship large customer purchases, such as sports equipment, patio furniture, fishing rods, pet food, kayaks, bicycles and other household goods.
