What the role entails
The Community Services Department requires various Aquatics Leadership Conductors for the Courtice Community Complex, Diane Hamre Recreation Complex and Alan Strike Aquatic and Squash Centre for Fall 2022, including the following positions:

·       Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid Instructor/Examiners

·       National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiners

·       Lifesaving Society Bronze Examiners

·       Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainers

·       Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Trainers

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Aquatic Coordinator, the following responsibilities and duties of these positions include, but are not limited to:

·       Planning, organizing, and implementing high quality course according to the Lifesaving Society and Municipality of Clarington’s expectations.

·       Ensuring the health and safety of registered candidates throughout the duration of the course.

·       Performing all administrative duties and follow acceptable procedures as outlined by the Lifesaving Society and the Municipality of Clarington.

·       Demonstrating strong internal and external customer service skills.

·       Demonstrating strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.

·       Ability to work with minimal supervision and to exercise sound judgement.

·       Must be legally able to work in Canada.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:

Minimum Qualifications for Standard First Aid Instructor/Examiner positions are:

·       Current Standard First Aid with CPR Level ‘C’

·       Current Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid Instructor and Examiner Award Minimum

Qualifications for National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner positions are:

·       Current Standard First Aid with CPR Level ‘C’

·       Current National Lifeguard (NL) Award

·       Current National Lifeguard Instructor and National Lifeguard Examiner Award Minimum

Qualifications for Bronze Examiner positions are:

·       Current Standard First Aid with CPR Level ‘C’

·       Current National Lifeguard (NL) Award

·       Current Lifesaving Society Instructor Award

·       Current Lifesaving Society Examiner Award  Minimum Qualifications for Instructor Trainer positions are:

·       Current Standard First Aid with CPR Level ‘C’

·       Current National Lifeguard (NL) Award

·       Current Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer Award Minimum Qualifications for Swim Instructor Trainer positions are:

·       Current Standard First Aid with CPR Level ‘C’

·       Current National Lifeguard (NL) Award

·       Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Trainer Award

What we offer you
We offer the following for this position:

Rate of pay:
– Training Rate: $15.01 per hour (2021 rate)

–  $20.53 per hour (2021 rate) for Bronze Examiners

– $24.24 per hour (2021 rate) for Standard First Aid and CPR C Instructors

–  $35.04 per hour (2021 rate) for National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiners, Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer positions and Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Trainer positions

Hours of Work:
Successful candidates must be available to attend mandatory staff training, date to be determined, and must be able to work a variable schedule; primarily evening, weekend and holiday shifts, up to a maximum of 24 hours per week.

Additional information and requirements
Prior to starting the position, the successful candidate must provide, at their own expense, a current (within the last 180 days) satisfactory criminal reference check, with vulnerable sector screening from a Canadian Police Information Centre. Applicants who have been employed with the Municipality within the last year and have provided a criminal reference check within the last 365 days are exempt from providing another criminal reference check. Successful candidates will be required to provide a CPIC every two years at their own cost.
