Professional Carpenter – Construction – Construction Trades- centric roles

Location: Job sites all over Durham Region

Number of positions: 2

Work Hours: Full-time (40 hrs./wk.) – mostly 8 am – 5 pm Weekdays, 8-hr. shifts (daytime – flexibility)

*Rainy days off but time made up – Occasional weekends

Pay: $45+/hr. depending on skill set

Own Transportation Required: Yes

Main Responsibilities:

  • Tool usage, transfer, moving, storage and set-up (of both hand held and power tools and industry-relevant equipment)
  • Professional and/or certified carpenters/trade people to perform senior duties; task delegation, design and application
  • Must be fluent in measurement and conversion-related duties and to work independently
  • Must be receptive to supervising and directing apprentices — communicating clearly
  • Measuring, strategizing and designing from blueprints, drawings and schematics, both structurally and in cosmetic ways; visualization
  • Following existing designs from clients extremely closely, to deliver work precisely and to specs.
  • Building fences, decks, gazebos, pergolas, garden constructs and supports
  • Renovating mostly residential, but also commercial spaces — from inception of design to completion
  • Specializing in cabinetry, built-in furniture, features, shelving, etc., installation — ‘from scratch’ work not typical — mostly installation and customization on existing pieces
  • Following and implementing all health and safety measures and work site protocol – wear proper PPE, as requested

Job Requirements:

  • Punctual, dedicated and project focused; organized, with specialized skills in relevant trades, like construction, carpentry, etc. (plumbers and electricians are always brought in to do electrical and plumbing tasks
  • Professional carpenters give instruction to willing and available apprentices to optimize service delivery
  • Willingness to contribute to team — following didactics
  • Accommodating time lost due to bad weather with team
  • For apprentices and general labourers, basic literacy and numeracy in the field — ability to do practical math
  • For professional carpenters, intermediate literacy in the field; language, communication and practical math

Education / Certificates Required: Please present during interview

Number of Years of Previous Experience Required: 1 year+ (discuss at interview)

Medical Info./Vaccinations Required: None (if meds. taken on duty, staff should disclose condition, i.e. diabetic)
